Facilitator training for Tom & Lisa workshop

On Monday, May 12, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., an advanced training course for addiction prevention teachers, school social workers and those involved in open youth work will take place in the adjoining room of the Stadengaststätte in the Tiefenstein district. They will gain the skills to independently conduct the "Tom & Lisa" prevention workshop as moderators. The moderator training course is organized by the Regional Working Group for Addiction Prevention (RAK).

When young people start experimenting with alcohol, it can be dangerous. They are often unable to assess how alcohol affects them and where their personal limits lie. Consequences such as accidents, violence or serious alcohol poisoning therefore pose immediate dangers for young people.

"Tom & Lisa" is an interactive workshop on alcohol prevention and is aimed primarily at young people in grades 7 and 8 at all types of schools. This is because prevention measures to teach risk competence should start in the critical phase of adolescence, parallel to the start of alcohol consumption and the development of drinking patterns. The workshop provides information on the risks associated with alcohol and the Youth Protection Act, promotes risk competence, clarifies persistent myths, practises the correct way to act in emergency situations, empowers young people who do not drink alcohol, encourages family discussions and introduces the regional help system.

The workshop is conducted by specialists from the addiction counseling centers and the Idar-Oberstein Youth Welfare Office. Participants receive a certificate and access to the necessary materials and become part of the Germany-wide Tom & Lisa network of Villa Schöpflin.

  • Registration is required for participation by Thursday, April 17, 2025. The participation fee is 50 euros per person and includes a warm lunch. The required teaching materials (Tom & Lisa Box) will be donated by the Roland Foundation from Veitsrodt.
