Rolf Zehmke celebrates his service anniversary

Rolf Zehmke initially worked as a road builder at the building depot for four months on a temporary basis in 1999. He was then hired again on a temporary basis from August 2000 and was taken on permanently shortly afterwards. Since then, Zehmke has been responsible for all maintenance work on public roads and is also involved in manual winter maintenance.

"We are always pleased when reliable employees stay with us for so long," emphasized Mayor Marx and thanked the jubilarian for his work. He pointed out that Rolf Zehmke's work was physically challenging and was pleased that the employee had so far been spared any accidents or injuries. Gerhard Baum, head of the construction depot, also praised the work of his colleague: "He is a permanent fixture in our company and we have been working together well and without complications for many years."

The jubilarian still enjoys his work at the building depot. "I fought for the job back then and was glad that it worked out," emphasized Rolf Zehmke. A job in the public sector has advantages and disadvantages compared to the private sector, but in his opinion the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.
