City budget is approved

Mayor Frank Frühauf is delighted with the good news: "Many other municipalities have been denied approval so far. In our case, the ADD has recognized the consolidation efforts of the specially appointed working group - despite the unbalanced budget." The ADD also took positive note of the fact that the city had adjusted the property tax rates to achieve revenue neutrality. "We have therefore done our homework," stated Mayor Frühauf. He thanked the members of the working group and the city council as well as the administrative staff for their joint efforts, which had led to this success.

Of course, the city's overall budget situation is no cause for celebration. The profit and loss budget closes the year with a deficit of around 14.22 million euros, while the financial budget has a funding shortfall of 26.7 million euros. Loans of 9.4 million euros have to be taken out for investments. Taking into account the scheduled repayment of 0.6 million, this is expected to result in new borrowing in the investment area of 8.8 million euros. For the first time since 2021, there is also a need for liquidity loans amounting to 17.88 million euros. In this respect, the municipal budget violates the requirement to balance the budget as stipulated in the municipal code, especially for the planning years 2026 to 2028. However, the ADD has refrained from issuing an objection for the year 2025 due to the efforts made to improve the municipal budget and financial situation. For the following years, however, the ADD demands that the greatest possible efforts be made to achieve the legally prescribed budget balance. In this respect, the consolidation of the city's finances remains an ongoing task for the council and administration.
