A musical highlight of a special kind awaits the city on June 13, 2025: the punk rock band "SpeedBottles" and the oldest boy band in Germany, the "Bachwagge", will perform together on Schleiferplatz - a cross-generational open-air concert with free admission that could hardly be more different. The concert takes place in cooperation with the city of Idar-Oberstein and CityMood.
Both formations are celebrating their 20th anniversary on stage, but with an exciting addition - the members of the Bachwagge bring "a little more life experience" than their younger colleagues. While the SpeedBottles were once founded as "The Bottles", a name reminiscent of the Beatles, the Bachwagge's name is charmingly derived from the pun "Rolling Stones". The concert therefore promises an interplay of different musical styles and generations.
The idea for this unusual event was born at the beginning of the year at the New Year's reception of the city of Idar-Oberstein, where the SpeedBottles were awarded the city's culture prize. A Bachwagge member took it upon himself to approach the band and suggest the unusual concert project. In 2020, the Bachwagge were also awarded the city's culture prize. Enthusiastic about the idea, the band contacted the association. At a meeting in the Bachwagge clubhouse, a friendly and collegial atmosphere quickly developed - clear proof of the unifying power of music, despite the differences.
Rumor has it that the two groups will even perform a song together, which could make the evening an unforgettable event. Especially worth mentioning: For fans of the SpeedBottles, the concert is the only opportunity to experience the band open-air in their home town this year, as they will not be performing at the Rock im Daal Festival as usual. The open-air concert on Schleiferplatz promises not only a rousing show, but also a symbolic statement for bringing together different generations and musical styles. Further details about the program will be announced in the coming weeks - the excitement is already building!
