On Sunday, November 10, 2024, the election for the Advisory Board for Migration and Integration will take place in Idar-Oberstein. The exact time will be announced once the election committee has decided.
Who can vote?
All foreign and stateless residents as well as dual nationals and people with a migration background are invited to vote. They must have reached the age of 16 and have registered their main place of residence in Idar-Oberstein for at least three months.
Who can be elected?
All residents over the age of 16 who have had their main place of residence in Idar-Oberstein for at least three months are eligible for election to the Advisory Board for Migration and Integration of the City of Idar-Oberstein. Furthermore, they must not have lost the right to stand for election in court. It does not matter whether the persons have a migration background, but interested persons without a migration background must be nominated by an eligible voter. Every person entitled to vote can submit one or more nominations and can also nominate themselves. Only nominations with the written consent of the candidate are valid and the nominator must also sign the nomination. Both the nomination and the proposer must be clearly identified by first name, surname and address to avoid any confusion.
The original election proposals must be submitted to the Idar-Oberstein City Electoral Office, Georg-Maus-Straße 1, Room I 219, by 6 p.m. on Monday, September 23, 2024. Election proposals received after this deadline must be rejected.
What does the advisory board do?
The Advisory Board for Migration and Integration for the city of Idar-Oberstein represents the interests of foreign residents as well as citizens with a migration background. Among other things, this is intended to promote the political decision-making of these people and offer them support. The Advisory Board for Migration and Integration is elected every five years.
