This year, the OIE is once again supporting school book loans with colorful, sustainable and versatile cloth bags. The bags are not only environmentally friendly, but also particularly durable and versatile. Whether for transporting school books or for everyday shopping. A total of around 4,200 cotton bags were distributed to schoolchildren in the town of Idar-Oberstein, the Herrstein-Rhaunen National Park Association municipality, the Baumholder Association municipality and the Birkenfeld district.
Numerous helpers were already busy preparing the bags during the summer vacations. They sorted the school books, packed them into the colorful bags, provided them with collection slips and scanned the books. "It's a logistical challenge to sort and pack several hundred books in a short space of time. But thanks to our well-coordinated team, everything went smoothly," reports Bettina Mattes-Fuhr, who helped out in the school book warehouse at Idar elementary school. In the town of Idar-Oberstein alone, around 900 pupils from seven schools took advantage of the textbook loan service. A big thank you goes to all the helpers who ensured that everything ran smoothly. Their support made the start of the new school year much easier for the children," said a delighted OIE CEO Andreas Berg. Mayor Frank Frühauf praised the OIE's support: "We are grateful for the OIE's commitment. The cloth bags are not only practical, but can also be reused as often as required. The children and parents really appreciate this." "
On the first day of school, the last pupils finally received their OIE bags with the books so that regular lessons could start without any problems. To mark the 125th anniversary, the OIE also provided a special surprise and hid 125 cinema vouchers and Heimatliebetaler in the bags. These were selected at random.
