Summer, sun, freedom!

Who didn't spend part of their youth in the outdoor pool and remembers the chlorine-soaked atmosphere, the shouting, the smell of suntan lotion and red and white fries and the exciting moments on the towel and in the pool?

In his wonderful novel "Der große Sommer", Ewald Arenz writes about a love affair between two teenagers that begins in an outdoor swimming pool, on the diving platform, with adrenaline pumping through its veins. In "Seemann vom Siebener", Arno Frank poetically recounts the lives of various people, from a lifeguard to an ageing Latin teacher, who cross paths on a single day in a small, provincial outdoor pool.

Full of life and poetry in the outdoor pool! A piece of summer in November. The two books are presented by the reading star and actor Rainer Rudloff, who has been touring Germany with readings for 25 years.

  • The reading will take place on September 20, 2024 at 7.30 pm in the Idar-Oberstein City Library, Hauptstr. 373 a. The entrance fee is 5 euros.
