For more than half of young people, school is the most important place for career orientation. This was reported in a study by the Bertelsmann Foundation. This shows the great importance of teachers and the school as a place of learning for the future of their pupils. This is why the Birkenfeld National Park district, as the responsible body for secondary schools, has joined forces with the town of Idar-Oberstein and the Bad Kreuznach Employment Agency to launch the "jobzzone" training company guide for the eighth time - and is making it available free of charge to pupils in the pre-release classes. "jobzzone" supports the pupils in their career orientation and offers employers a forum to proactively recruit the next generation of skilled workers.
"The shortage of skilled workers continues to be one of the biggest challenges for companies in our region. Through the "jobzzone", we support them in finding and attracting young talent," emphasizes Christina Biehl, Managing Director of the Birkenfeld district economic development agency.
The Birkenfeld National Park district is not only worth living in and has a promising future, but is also diverse - this is also reflected in the world of work. The 'jobzzone' offers a comprehensive overview and helps to discover previously unknown apprenticeships, internships and dual study programs," says District Administrator Miroslaw Kowalski.
"The 'jobzzone' makes it easier to find your way around today's almost unmanageable selection of training occupations. We show future trainees the opportunities and prospects in the region, while at the same time offering training companies the opportunity to approach young people in a targeted manner," adds Frank Frühauf, Mayor of Idar-Oberstein.
"Digitalization is changing existing job profiles and new ones are being added. Young people have a wealth of training opportunities open to them, which also offer excellent promotion and development opportunities. 'jobzzone' offers a regional and local overview and can increase the attractiveness of dual training for our students," says Steffen Marx, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of the Bad Kreuznach Employment Agency.
"In addition to the regional training opportunities, our students are also increasingly interested in the dual study programs offered by companies," say Sarah Wagner and Caroline Pehlke, Idar-Oberstein's business development officers.
The high-quality print edition is currently being distributed to pupils in the district for use in lessons. It also offers parents at home the opportunity to find out about the current requirements and offers on the training market. After all, job profiles have changed and new ones have been added.
"With the 'jobzzone', we are reaching the employees of tomorrow to get them excited about the apprenticeships and dual study programs in the region," explains Matthias Ess from Verlag Matthias Ess (Bad Kreuznach).
The latter produced and published the 178-page brochure. In the current eighth edition, a total of 80 companies from the region present around 250 training opportunities and dual study programs. That's ten more companies than last year and proof that the "jobzzone" is becoming an increasingly important platform for companies in the region to draw attention to themselves in times of a shortage of skilled workers.
The associated internet platform www.jobzzone.de also offers an extensive regional database with many search functions - such as a local search or sorting options according to interests. Companies also have the opportunity to present themselves and their training courses in short videos.
Special service: From the print edition of "jobzzone", pupils can use QR codes to go directly to the company profile in the online database and can then contact the training companies directly.
During a press conference at the Idar-Oberstein city administration on Monday, all those involved also emphasized that there is close cooperation between the "jobzzone" and the career fair organized by the Birkenfeld district's business development agency. This is clear from the fact that around 50 companies will be taking part in the upcoming 2024 edition of the careers fair, which will also be presented in the new training company guide. The 2024 careers fair will take place on October 6 and 7 at Messe Idar-Oberstein.
