Autumn holiday program of the youth work Idar-Oberstein

The Idar-Oberstein Youth Welfare Office invites all young people to take part in a varied autumn holiday program. The activities begin on Monday, October 14 and Tuesday, October 15, 2024 with a graffiti workshop led by experienced artists from the Letterbox Kollektiv from Mainz. Participants will have the opportunity to learn the art of graffiti painting, drawing and spraying and to express their creativity. The workshop is aimed at both beginners and advanced students and promotes an understanding of the cultural significance and history of graffiti art. On Wednesday, October 16, 2024, an exciting excursion to the Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park is on the agenda. Together with a ranger, participants will explore the changes in the forests caused by environmental influences such as climate change or the bark beetle. The tour is followed by a visit to the Wildenburg wildlife reserve.

In October, the media education team from medien.rlp - Institut für Medien und Pädagogik e.V. will be touring Rhineland-Palatinate for the 18th time and on Thursday, October 17, 20204 the children and youth film tour will stop in Idar-Oberstein. This year, a visit to the WasserWissensWerk in Kempfeld is planned. The day starts with a screening of a thematically appropriate film, followed by a tour of the interactive exhibition. There, the children will gain an insight into water extraction, treatment and distribution in the region and the importance of protecting this precious resource.

On Monday, October 21, 2024, the second week of the vacation will be spent at the Rocklands climbing hall in Sankt Wendel. Participants start at Idar-Oberstein train station and travel by train to the climbing hall, where they can climb for two hours. Rocklands St. Wendel offers an impressive climbing area of approx. 1000 m² and a bouldering area of 300 m². For all hip hop fans, a street dance workshop will take place on Tuesday, October 22 and Wednesday, October 23, 2024. It's all about music, movement and creativity. Whether hip-hop, breakdance, funky or other styles, everyone has the opportunity to live out their creativity, follow their intuition and learn choreographies to modern songs.

From Tuesday, October 22 to Friday, October 25, 2024, the Evangelical Christusgemeinde Idar-Oberstein is also once again offering the construction of a Lego city on its premises at Wilhelmstraße 15-17. Lego fans between the ages of 6 and 12 can experience a varied program every day from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Between the building phases, there will be singing together and exciting stories. Finally, the works of art will be presented in a family church service on Sunday, October 27, 2024.
