The beginnings of the Fab Four

The city of Idar-Oberstein's theater program for the 2024/2025 season starts at the end of October. The cultural department presents six varied events at the Idar-Oberstein City Theatre and promises theatre-goers the best entertainment, brilliant theater and rocking music. The theater program is supported by Kreissparkasse Birkenfeld as the main sponsor. Advance ticket sales have begun.

It starts on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 8 pm with the Altonaer Theater's production "Backbeat - The Beatles in Hamburg". The musical by Iain Softley and Stephen Jeffreys, based on the Universal feature film of the same name, tells of the beginnings of the "Fab Four" and invites the audience on a fascinating musical journey through time with songs such as "Love me do" and "I saw her standing there".

Hamburg, Reeperbahn 1960: Five young, passionate musicians from Liverpool take up an engagement at the Indra music club. Their names: John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Pete Best and Stuart Sutcliffe. The pay is miserable, the accommodation is poor and world fame is a dreamy distance away. Nobody suspects that music history is being written here, as the "mushroom heads" soon win the hearts of the public. The first problems soon arise: The friendship between the band members is put to the test when Stuart Sutcliffe leaves the band for love.
