Mayor Frank Frühauf emphasized the "exceptionally good relations between the soldiers and the citizens of Idar-Oberstein". This is Pistorius' first visit to the central artillery training facility in Idar-Oberstein. The Minister was particularly interested in the training on the 2000 self-propelled howitzer and held talks with soldiers and civilian employees of the artillery school. In a concluding interview, he promised the further expansion of the artillery and assured that additional investments in improving the infrastructure would also be made in the near future.
