Further digital ambassadors wanted

The digital world can improve quality of life, independence and participation in old age. However, many older people are often unaware of the opportunities that the internet, smartphones, tablets and the like offer in everyday life or do not have a local contact person. For this reason, over 640 digital ambassadors have already been trained across the country since 2018 to accompany older people on their journey into the digital world. More volunteers are also urgently needed in the Birkenfeld district. The RLP Media Authority and the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Transformation and Digitization are responsible for the project.

The volunteers create meeting places such as PC, smartphone and tablet get-togethers as well as open consultation hours. They also offer their support at home or in care facilities for the elderly. All services are free of charge and are aimed in particular at people who are not yet online or would like to take their first digital steps.

Anyone who is interested in digital media and would like to pass on their knowledge to older people is welcome to apply to become a digital ambassador! They should use digital media, but do not have to be an expert. The courses teach the basics of using the internet. The digital ambassadors decide for themselves how much time they want to invest and what content they want to work on. Age does not play a role.

The training takes place online in four sessions, all of which must be completed in order to graduate successfully. The online training takes place on the following days:
Technical test: Friday, November 15 15:00-16:00
Module 1: Monday, November 18, 2024 17:00-19:00
Module 2: Thursday, November 21, 2024 17:00-19:00
