The global Orange Day on November 25 draws attention to the issue of violence against women and girls. The campaign was launched by the UN back in 1991 and is intended to encourage women and girls affected by violence to take advantage of offers of help and thus stop accepting their own personal fate. It is also intended to encourage bystanders not to look the other way.
One such offer of help can be the violence against women helpline. The helpline is a nationwide advice service for women who experience and have experienced violence. By calling 116016 and via online counseling, those affected are supported around the clock, all year round. Counseling is free of charge. Trier Police Headquarters also has its own victim protection advice service. You can find more information at https://s.rlp.de/XAOeLwu.
The Idar-Oberstein police and the town of Idar-Oberstein want to take part in the day with a joint campaign to draw attention to the fate of women and girls. For this reason, the train station and the town hall will be lit up in orange on the day. The police station will also be illuminated with orange balloons and orange foil.
