The old portal for i-KFZ services was deactivated on February 1, 2024 due to a lack of minimum security requirements. However, as there were delays in the commissioning of the new i-KFZ portal level 4 in Rhineland-Palatinate, registration processes could only be carried out at the municipal administration's citizens' office in the meantime. Now that the new i-KFZ portal level 4 has been successfully connected, Internet-based vehicle registration is possible again with immediate effect. This saves the trip to the registration office and the waiting time on site.
A significant innovation in the process is, for example, immediate commissioning. This means that the vehicle registered via i-Kfz can take part in road traffic immediately. In addition, the costs for internet-based registration are significantly reduced compared to registration at the local registration authority. Level 4 also allows legal entities to complete registration processes via i-Kfz portals for the first time. The following registration processes can be carried out online: Registration, deregistration, re-registration, transfer with or without change of owner, day registration and selection of electric, seasonal and classic car license plates (H).
- How citizens or legal entities can identify themselves with the service, which documents are required and how the internet-based registration works is explained in the government service portal. The link can be found under the relevant administrative services in the citizen information system on the city's homepage at www.idar-oberstein.de/bis.
