Mini sports badge for the rainbow gang

Klaus Juchem, the exercise manager for the Birkenfeld district, had called on the daycare centers in the district to take the mini sports badge under the motto "Children need exercise". The Nahbollenbach daycare center gladly responded to this call. Not least because this is a focus of the work with the children this year. After receiving the award from the state initiative "Kita isst besser" ("Daycare eats better"), the "exercise" component, which is also included in the program, should now also be implemented with suitable activities.

Every Wednesday, the rainbow gang (the children who are starting school this year) met in the multi-purpose hall to practise. Of course, every child first had to remember to bring their gym bag, then get changed and finally "train" on a great course. Alisha Lenz had put together the various stations for the children. She is the mother of a daycare child and is part of the Nahbollenbach daycare center's parent treasure chest. She is an exercise instructor herself and offers children's gymnastics on Mondays in the multi-purpose hall.

At the beginning of May, the time had come: Klaus Juchem came to the daycare center and the Rainbow Gang showed off their skills at the various stations. Juchem was very enthusiastic about the children's enthusiasm, had also brought his own sports games with him and instructed the children. Then, finally, there it was: The certificate for the mini sports badge. Each child stepped forward individually and received it personally from the movement manager. All the children were rightly proud to be the official recipients of this award.

And sporting activities continue at the daycare center: the children are training "for the Olympics". Because on July 6, 2024, a Children's Olympics will take place at the daycare center. Just as the adults are meeting in Paris this year for the Olympics, the children will be able to experience a sporting festival. Of course, the Olympic idea of international understanding will also be at the start, as children from 17 nations currently attend the Nahbollenbach daycare center. All families are invited to meet here and get moving together. Just like the grown-ups, the children will be collecting movement time from May onwards to feel "big and strong" and perhaps even become movement heroes.

Collecting exercise time - how does it work? Every meter or kilometer covered by running, walking or riding a bike, balance bike, scooter or roller skates can be written on a receipt and handed in at the daycare center. Every minute or hour of exercise, preferably in the fresh air, can also be collected and handed in. The receipts are evaluated every Thursday and everyone can see how far they have already come together on a display board. Maybe the children will make it all the way to Paris: it will be exciting.
