In addition to general administrative tasks, the tasks at the City Youth Welfare Office include working on the summer holiday program, providing concrete support for children and young people in the individual vacation projects and creatively designing posters and flyers to advertise events. The volunteers are closely involved in the planning, organization and implementation of youth cultural activities. "The Federal Volunteers complete a varied activity here, and many also use the service as preparation for a course of study or a career in the social or educational field," explains social education worker Sebastian Herzig from the City Youth Welfare Office.
Schoolchildren aged 6 to 12 are looked after in the afternoons in the municipal play and learning room. The tasks of the federal volunteers include supporting the teachers in the areas of recreational education, homework supervision, vacation activities and housekeeping.
