It is a good tradition for the Blue Note jazz and blues association to present its annual program to Lord Mayor Frank Frühauf. This time, however, there was a novelty: the long-standing chairman Dieter Hochreuther came for a "farewell visit", as his former deputy Michael Weber has been the new chairman since the association's annual general meeting in April.
"Twelve years as Chairman are enough," said Dieter Hochreuther, explaining his decision not to run for the position again. However, with the new chairman and two new board members, the board is in a good position. The now 128 members of the association are also doing an excellent job of organizing the events. And Dieter Hochreuther naturally wants to continue to support them in this.
"This is also necessary, as we have a total of thirteen events planned for this year," says Michael Weber, the first four of which have already taken place. After a longer break due to corona, the Parkhotel will also be used again this year: "The location has a great atmosphere, we could imagine using it more." There will also be two concerts again in cooperation with the city. The guitar night was already held in the Göttenbach auditorium in March, and a concert with The Jakob Manz Project is scheduled there in December. "We are delighted about the good cooperation with the city and are grateful for the financial and logistical support," says Weber.
"I very much welcome the great commitment of Blue Note and its members," emphasized Lord Mayor Frühauf. He sees the association's activities as a valuable contribution to the regional cultural program. In 2019, the association was awarded the Idar-Oberstein Culture Prize for its work.
