Still register for the Altstadtlauf

A total of six races for different age groups are offered as part of the Altstadtlauf. Participation is possible from the U8 age group (born between 2017 and 2020). This completes a distance of 370 meters. The distances increase for each age group up to the main race, which is around 6.5 kilometers long. The route runs through the pedestrian zone below the Felsenkirche church, with the start and finish on Austraße, at the back of the Tourist Information Office. The first competition starts at 3.30 pm, the main race at 6.30 pm. Once again this year, the event will be hosted by athletics expert Heinz Hofmann.

The award ceremony for the youth races (1 to 4) will take place directly afterwards at around 5 pm. The three fastest runners in each age group will receive their certificates. In addition, the City Sports Association has also offered a cash prize for the three fastest runners in each age group. Following this award ceremony, the two main races will start at 6pm and 6.30pm. Their award ceremony will take place directly afterwards. Here too, the three fastest runners in each age group will receive their certificates. The certificates for all other participants in races 1 to 6 will be made available in the registration portal after the races.

Traffic restrictions for the safety of runners

To ensure the safety of the runners, the following traffic restriction measures are in place on June 29, 2024 from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m:

  • The main road will be completely closed to traffic from the Festhalle junction in the direction of the market square.
  • The entrance to Otto-Decker-Straße and Austraße will be completely closed from the Nahe superstructure (Otto-Decker junction). This means that turning right from Bad Kreuznach and turning left from Birkenfeld from the B 41 / Naheüberbauung is not possible. The exit from the Austraße parking lot is guaranteed.
  • In the pedestrian zone, the intersection of Hauptstraße / Otto-Decker-Straße / Kreuzgasse will be partially closed, so that Kreuzgasse and Burggasse can only be reached by residents from the direction of the Alte Post.
  • There will be an absolute ban on stopping in the start and finish area in Austraße from 11 am.

The city administration asks road users for their understanding for these restrictions. They will be lifted as soon as possible after the end of the Altstadtlauf. The organizers would also like to point out that the instructions of the law enforcement officers must be followed. This applies in particular to meeting traffic in Austraße when leaving the parking lot there against the direction of the run. Unauthorized vehicles parked on the route will be towed away.
