VOR-TOUR of hope comes to the Schleiferplatz

On Saturday, July 20, 2024, from 12 noon, the VOR-TOUR of Hope will be a guest at Schleiferplatz in Idar and will be welcomed with a colourful supporting program. In addition to welcoming speeches from Mayor Friedrich Marx and District Administrator Miroslaw Kowalski, the cheer leaders "Little Maniacs" from ITV will also be there. Johannes Klein will also report on the tour and Bruno Zimmer will speak about the work of the Stefan Morsch Foundation. The donations collected in advance for the project will also be presented at this event.

This year, around 120 cyclists, some of them well-known, will be pedaling through the Hunsrück on the 27th VOR-TOUR of Hope. The central start and finish point of the tour this year is Simmern. On Saturday, July 20, 2024, the participants will start in Simmern at around 8.30 am, make a short stop in Kirn at 10 am and then take a longer break for lunch in Idar-Oberstein at 12 noon. They will then return to Simmern via Sohren and Kirchberg.

The catering will be organized by Steffi von Pock (Idarer Brauhaus) and Thomas Kreis (Offene Flamme) as well as Martin Monz, supported by the Artillery Training Battalion 345. Of course, everyone who wants to be part of the VOR-TOUR of Hope will also be well catered for.

The Schwollener Sprudel company has also pledged its support. Other supporters and organizers include Idar-Oberstein Business Development (Caroline Pehlke) and Stadtmarketing Idar-Oberstein e.V, WfG Birkenfeld (Christina Biehl and Chiara Mele) and Kreissparkasse Birkenfeld (Celine Roes and Leonhard Stibitz). The head of the team is Johnny Klein, the so-called caretaker for the greater Trier, Eifel, Mosel, Hunsrück and Saar region.

Cancer is an insidious disease anyway. When children also develop it, it is particularly bad. They require special therapy and special care. All of this is associated with financial burdens that affected families are often unable to bear. Cancer research as such also requires funds in order to better identify the causes of the disease and its progression and to find cures and treatment methods. State funds are not sufficient for this.

To generate funds, the Germany-wide Tour of Hope was launched in 1983, which has developed into the largest privately organized charity bike tour and has raised over 40 million DM or euros with this activity to date. In 1996, the idea for the "VOR-TOUR" of hope was born in Rhineland-Palatinate. Already in the run-up to the tour, supporters are sought and donations are collected, which can be collected in a variety of ways. Whether companies, private individuals, associations or schools. Everyone can help. There are no limits to the commitment and ingenuity of the helpers.

The organizers and the charity cyclists are looking forward to many spectators arriving at the Schleiferplatz. Anyone who would like to make a donation in advance is welcome to do so. Donation account: DE29 5855 0130 0001 1203 02, VOR-TOUR DER HOFFNUNG e.V., reason for payment: Nationalparklandkreis Birkenfeld. Further information can be found at www.vortour-der-hoffnung.de.
