As every year shortly before the summer vacations, foster and adoptive parents met with their children in the Birkenfeld district for a fun get-together. This year's event took place on the community square in Weiden and was organized by a dedicated group - the action group of foster and adoptive parents - in cooperation with the foster children's services of the city and district youth welfare office.
Around 70 people took part in the summer party. The program included a barbecue, a social get-together and various games for the children, which ensured a lot of fun and good humour. A special highlight was the generous donation of ice cream from Marco Vazzola, which sweetened the afternoon and was greatly appreciated by all participants.
In addition, Ms. Caspari offered creative balloon modelling, while Ms. Bernhard delighted the children with imaginative face painting. Special thanks to all three of them!
The Aktionskreis der Pflege- und Adoptiveltern was founded in 1979 as a self-help group. Since then, it has developed into an important support for the work of the youth welfare offices. The group promotes networking and offers regular events for parents and children. The action group is open to all foster and adoptive parents and their children in the Birkenfeld National Park district and in the town of Idar-Oberstein and offers advice and an exchange of experiences.
The action group also has its own budget and relies on donations to continue its valuable work. Donations are always welcome and help to finance the wide range of services for foster and adoptive families.
The summer festival was once again a great success and a wonderful start to the summer vacations for all participating families. The action group would like to thank all helpers and supporters and is already looking forward to the next joint festival.
