The event was hosted by Colonel Olaf Tuneke, General of the Artillery Corps and Head of the Artillery School. The reason for the meeting was a groundbreaking agreement on cooperation between the two institutions.
The aim of this collaboration is to provide pupils with a sound understanding of security policy, Europe and international relations. The youth officer will regularly give lectures and offer workshops at the school. These events will cover various topics, from German defense policy to international security policy and current security policy challenges.
A core element of the cooperation is the teaching of the overall context of Europe and international relations. The aim here is to give pupils an understanding of the structures and workings of the European Union.
Another part of the cooperation are visits to military facilities of the Bundeswehr as well as various study and learning trips. These trips are intended to take the pupils to political institutions and historical sites in Germany, such as the visit to the former government bunker in the Ahr valley.
The cooperation between the Realschule plus Idar-Oberstein and the youth officer of the Bundeswehr represents a significant enrichment of everyday school life. Through the combination of theoretical knowledge transfer and practical experience, the pupils receive a comprehensive education in the areas of security policy, Europe and international relations. This cooperation helps to strengthen pupils' political awareness and prepare them for their role as responsible citizens in our society.
The official signing of the cooperation agreement took place at the Idar-Oberstein Artillery School. Special thanks go to Colonel Olaf Tuneke, who not only provided the local facilities, but also contributed his expertise to the discussions.
