There will also be an open Sunday, when the stores will be open from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. for leisurely shopping. The event is supported by Kreissparkasse Birkenfeld, OIE AG, the Bürkle Foundation, Globus Idar-Oberstein and the state of Rhineland-Palatinate.
Stemming from the tradition of gemstone processing, Idar-Oberstein has developed into an Eldorado for every gemstone and jewelry fan. Visitors to the market will find almost 50 exhibitors presenting geodes, minerals and creative jewelry, as well as high-quality gemstones, pearls and precious jewels. Visitors can look over the shoulders of gemstone cutters, goldsmiths, jewelry designers and engravers as they cut, hammer, drill and saw.
On the OIE stage and in the pedestrian zone, the street theater festival presents a fine mixture of entertaining, rousing and grandiose artists with their poetic, comic, acrobatic and bizarre performances. All free of charge and outdoors, the attractive festival and market appeal to young and old alike.
