Toilet issue for Fastnacht is resolved

It is well known that the toilet situation in the Idar district is currently tense, especially during events. The city administration is working hard to ensure that a new public toilet facility can be opened on the market square by the summer of 2024. The fact that previous options for using toilets in catering establishments are now also no longer available does not make the situation any easier for jesters who want to celebrate in Idar on Fat Thursday and Rose Monday.

For this reason, it was important to those responsible at the city council to find a quick solution for these events. It is therefore particularly pleasing that, in addition to the toilet trailer organized by the event organizers, another one can be set up in the market square area. This will be financed by the federal program "Sustainable inner cities and centers" (ZIZ). The carnival is also supported by the funding program in other areas: The procurement of the throwing material, which in the past was organized by the Rosenmontagszug interest group and financed by donations, is also supported with an amount from the funding pot. The city administration would also like to thank all the associations and volunteers who work to maintain and implement the RoMo parade every year. "Volunteering is not something we take for granted and we are delighted that there are people who provide this invaluable service for our beautiful city," explains Lord Mayor Frank Frühauf.

After the carnival days, we would like to take the opportunity to review the events and their planning. Together with those responsible at the IKG and IG RoMo-Zug, the course will then be set for the future and to ensure that everything runs smoothly. So that in the coming years it will once again be "Helau Idar-Oberstein!"
