On October 1, 1990, Irene Herrherdt was initially employed by the Idar-Oberstein town council as janitor for the buildings at Bahnhofstraße 1 and 3. A month later, she also took over the cleaning duties for the two properties, which at the time housed the town archive, the town library and the town's play and learning center, among others. In the meantime, these facilities have moved to other properties and the two buildings are being sold. However, Irene Herrherdt no longer needs to look for a new employer now that she has retired.
"Our cleaning staff do an important job that is often underestimated," explained Mayor Friedrich Marx once again. Especially in the municipal facilities, large areas have to be cleaned and cleanliness is of great importance for both employees and visitors. "You have done this job extremely well and reliably over the years, for which I would like to thank you very much," said the mayor to Irene Herrherdt. He also presented the soon-to-be retiree with a certificate of thanks and some gifts and wished her all the best for the new phase of her life. Colleagues and staff representatives were happy to join in the thanks and good wishes.
