This means that applications for, renewal and blocking of library cards can now be made online. A link to the online applications can be found on the city library's website at www.idar-oberstein.de/buch.
When applying for a new library card, library cards for minors and adults can be ordered. To do this, personal details (including those of the parent or guardian for minors) must be provided, the ID card must be uploaded in digital form and any usage fees due must be paid online. Paypal and Giropay can currently be used for this. Special user groups can also upload their proof of eligibility for a fee reduction. Adults have the option of sending their ID by post if the postage costs are covered.
With the renewal function, adults can apply to renew their ID card and pay the annual fee online. Minors do not need to renew their ID card as it is free of charge and is valid until the age of 18.
To block the library account, a blocking notification can be sent online, for example in the case of a lost library card. A replacement card can also be requested and paid for. A postal delivery can also be selected here.
