The four-day workshop "The Way of a musician" awaits all music-loving young people during the Easter vacations. Together with experts from the cultural initiative JAM ON!, from Monday, March 25 to Thursday, March 28, 2024, you can immerse yourself in the world of musicians at the youth club on the market - from songwriting to studio sessions, performance training and technical workshops to the final performance. Anyone aged 12 and over who wants to write their own songs or learn how to do so is welcome. Bands are also welcome to register.
It starts on Monday with a songwriting workshop. This is all about creative writing, developing catchy melodies and composing your own songs and lyrics. The artist Mikk Schunke will work with the participants to work out the phases behind the creation of a song. The aim is for each participant to be able to take their own lyrics to the recording session at the end of the day.
Tuesday is Record Day and the song created the day before is recorded in a real music studio. Steven Werthwein and Eduard Messmer from Unborn Sound Design produce demo versions of the songs in their studio in 30 to 60-minute recording sessions. These can also be taken home.
After all the work, the song should of course also be presented live. In order to develop a feeling for the stage and gain confidence, a performance training session is therefore held on Wednesday. Here everything revolves around the questions: "What do I wear?", "How do I move on stage?", "How do I deal with stage fright and unforeseen situations, such as a technical failure?". Because without technology, nothing works on stage. That's why there is also a crash course to get to know and understand the sound technology behind such a performance.
Finale: March 28 is the big day of the performance. But before that, a dress rehearsal is due. Each act has the opportunity to perform their song once on stage and check that everything is right. Then the doors are opened to the audience of relatives and friends and it's lights out - spotlight on!
