The first eligible voters in Idar-Oberstein received their election notifications for the European and local elections on Sunday, June 9, 2024 last week. The remaining letters are expected to be delivered in the course of this week.
A QR code is printed on the election notifications, which leads to the online application for a polling card (postal vote). However, this application will not be activated until Monday, May 6, 2024. Until then, a notice will appear stating that it is no longer possible to apply for a polling card.
Applying for postal voting documents
There are various options for applying for postal voting documents::
- The easiest way is probably to use the QR code mentioned above; the corresponding link will also be posted on the city's website www.idar-oberstein.de from May 6, 2024.
- There is also an application form for a polling card on the back of the polling card. Simply fill it out, sign it and send it in a stamped envelope to the electoral office or post it in the city administration's letterbox.
- In addition, from Monday, May 13, 2024, a separate postal voting office will be set up at the Idar-Oberstein city administration in Georg-Maus-Straße 2, room II.004. Here, eligible voters can apply for a postal vote in person and, if necessary, cast their vote directly. The postal voting office is open Monday to Friday from 8 am to 12 noon and Monday to Thursday from 2 pm to 4 pm.
- Postal voting documents can also be applied for informally by letter to the city administration, electoral office, Georg-Maus-Straße 1, 55743 Idar-Oberstein, by fax to 06781/64-9501 or by e-mail to briefwahl@idar-oberstein.de. Please state your first and last name, date of birth and full home address (street, house number, zip code, town). However, it is not possible to apply for postal voting documents by telephone.
Postal voting documents can be requested until Friday, June 7, 2024, at 6 pm. However, it should be noted that the letters still have to be sent by post. For this reason, postal voting documents should be applied for and collected in person from June 6 if possible.
