Topping-out ceremony for the Regulshausen daycare center

The topping-out ceremony for the new daycare center in the Regulshausen district took place last Friday. The facility, which is due to open in the fall of this year, is being built as a modular structure and will provide space for 50 children.

After a long period of planning and preparation for the project by the municipal building management department, construction work began on the approximately 3,000 square meter site in Höstchesflur street in September 2023. The civil engineering work, including the construction of the floor slab, was carried out by the company P. A. Budau from Idar-Oberstein, while the company Kastor HolzBauWerk from Wiebelsheim is currently constructing the timber frame walls. The daycare building covers an area of more than 600 square meters, plus a spacious outdoor area. The construction costs amount to 5 million euros.

In his speech, Lord Mayor Frühauf emphasized that a lot is currently happening in Idar-Oberstein in terms of daycare places. "The city alone, as the municipal provider, is opening three new daycare centers this year." The new Waldkita started in February with 18 places, and the registration process for the new daycare center on Barbararing is currently underway. It will open in May and offer 40 places. "And today we are celebrating the topping-out ceremony for the new Regulshausen daycare center, which will accommodate two groups with 50 children." There will also be extensions to existing daycare centers run by the Protestant church. The Flachsspreite daycare center will have 30 additional places and the Hasenklopp daycare center will also have 30 additional places after moving into the former market school. This development is very positive and shows that Idar-Oberstein is serious about supporting children and helping parents to reconcile work and family life. "And that's why I can now ask the carpenter to give the topping-out speech, so that the construction of the daycare center continues to be under a good star and runs smoothly," said Mayor Frühauf. André Kastor gladly complied with the request, gave the topping-out speech and threw the glass onto the floor of the future daycare center. As it shattered as requested, nothing stands in the way of the construction project going ahead smoothly.
