Mineral mulch is grit made from porphyry, lava or quartzite rock, with a grain size of 8 - 16 mm. Mineral mulch reduces the rate of evaporation and, when applied correctly, protects the soil from drying out so that less watering is required. In addition, mineral mulch suppresses weed growth and provides a good temperature balance, lasts longer, does not bind nitrogen and offers more design potential. In mineral-mulched perennial plantings, 7-10 perennials are planted per square meter. In addition, flower bulbs such as tulips are planted in these areas, thus contributing to design aspects all year round.
