"Heimat Shoppen" attracts numerous visitors to the Idar-Oberstein pedestrian zones

Many local retailers and restaurateurs took part in the marketing campaign to attract customers with special offers and promotions and thus offer added value for customers. An additional highlight was the street food festival with around 15 food trucks, which took place on Christuskirchplatz for the first time. Here, visitors were able to enjoy not only culinary delights but also live music, which contributed to an atmospheric ambience.

On Saturday morning, IHK Regional Managing Director Christina Schwardt, Lord Mayor Frank Frühauf and Achim Haupt from the IHK Regional Advisory Board met to take a tour of the pedestrian zone in Oberstein. This gave them a direct insight into the wide range of products and services on offer locally.

"By consciously shopping in our local stores, we not only strengthen the regional economy, but also preserve the diversity and unique charm of our city. Each of us can play our part in making our city center vibrant and attractive. This underlines the important role that every citizen can play in promoting their home town," says Christina Schwardt.

Lord Mayor Frank Frühauf emphasized that "a lively city centre plays a key role in ensuring that the citizens of Idar-Oberstein feel at home.

They were accompanied by Caroline Pehlke from the city's business development department and Samira Brächer, who will act as city manager for the next two years. With the City Mood project, which was initiated together with the city's business development department, Samira Brächer wants to be the local contact person to encourage networking between the city center players. The aim is to develop events and measures to revitalize the city centre.
