Following the completion of the development of the 'Weidenberg' commercial and industrial area at the end of May 2023, the construction company Christof Setz is now moving in for the first time. The obligatory ground-breaking ceremony was attended by company owner Christof Setz, junior manager Elena Setz and her partner Emanuele Santantonio, as well as Mayor Frank Frühauf and Head of the Building Department Stefan Tatsch, representing the city.
The commercial and industrial area 'Weidenberg' is located in the district of Weierbach in the extension of the commercial area 'Dickesbacher Straße'. It offers a total of 17.7 hectares of industrial and 4.2 hectares of commercial space for companies looking to relocate. The industrial areas have already been acquired in their entirety by the Polymer Group. Branches of the Bad Sobernheim-based family business are to be relocated here, as there is no longer any scope for expansion at the previous site.
The Setz construction company was founded in 1996 by master bricklayer Christof Setz and offers all the usual construction services in building construction and building renovation. The company also specializes in the preservation of historical monuments. The company is currently still based in Untere Kirchstraße in the Weierbach district and is now planning to relocate its headquarters to the 'Weidenberg' industrial estate. Among other things, commercial halls and an office building will be erected on the 7,200 square meter site. In view of the substitute building materials ordinance that came into force on August 1, 2023, Christof Setz can also imagine the addition of a building materials laboratory: "However, we need a suitably trained cooperation partner for this."
The succession of the family business, which currently employs 7 people, has also already been arranged: Daughter Elena and her partner have joined the company. Both have already completed a bricklaying apprenticeship and are currently training to become master craftsmen. "Like many other companies, we are also looking for additional staff and are always happy to receive motivated applicants," explains Elena Setz. Career changers are also very welcome.
"As part of the provision of services of general interest, we must create the necessary framework conditions for our citizens and businesses. Above all, this includes sufficient residential and commercial space," explained Mayor Frühauf at the ground-breaking ceremony. And if these areas are then used by successful local companies for expansion, this is an important contribution to securing the future. The Lord Mayor is therefore delighted about the first settlement on Weidenberg and congratulates the Setz construction company on this step into the company's future.
