Sebastian Schick was head of the Idar-Oberstein police station for four years. The 47-year-old senior police officer is now moving to the Ministry of the Interior in Mainz, where he will become a consultant in Department 344 under the direction of the Inspector of the Rhineland-Palatinate Police, Friedel Durben. During a visit to the town hall, Schick bid farewell to the Idar-Oberstein town council, who are reluctant to let the head of the police station go.
"We generally have a good and trusting working relationship with the police inspectorate, but the cooperation with Sebastian Schick was particularly intensive and fruitful," emphasized Lord Mayor Frank Frühauf. The corona pandemic with the 'walks', the terrible murder at the petrol station in Idar-Oberstein, the training of Ukrainian soldiers at the artillery school - these are just a few examples of the close cooperation between the city and the police over the past four years. "We will miss you, but I am sure that the good cooperation will continue with your successor," added Mayor Friedrich Marx, who, as head of the public order department, naturally has many points of contact with the police.
Sebastian Schick immediately returned the praise. "I would also like to thank the city of Idar-Oberstein for the excellent cooperation, which was certainly exemplary." In the future, the senior police officer will focus less on operational business and more on the strategic development of the Rhineland-Palatinate police force in his new role.
