Together with Marco Angilella from IfaS and other UCB representatives, the delegation also visited the city of Idar-Oberstein, where they were welcomed by Lord Mayor Frank Frühauf.
In the meeting room of the town hall, Mayor Frühauf welcomed the guests and gave them a brief introduction to the town. The head of the delegation, Sam Sambuila, explained the most important facts about the province of Kasai-Central. The province, comparable to a German federal state, comprises five territories and has more than four million inhabitants. The delegation, which held talks in Trier as well as in the Birkenfeld district, was interested in exploring opportunities for future cooperation in the fields of business and agriculture. Among other things, precious stones and minerals are also mined in Kasai-Central. At present, however, most mining is still carried out manually.
Mayor Frühauf agreed to pass on the delegation's concerns to the relevant authorities. However, further information material was required for this, particularly on the local working conditions and the topic of sustainability. After the stop in Idar-Oberstein, the delegation traveled on to Trier, where an information event was scheduled by the municipal utilities.
