Regional forum on cultural policy issues

On Thursday, November 30, 2023, from 4.30 p.m. to 8 p.m., a regional forum on key cultural policy topics will take place in the Idar-Oberstein Municipal Theater as part of the Rhineland-Palatinate Cultural Development Planning (CDP). The regional forums - which will be held in Landau, Idar-Oberstein and Neuwied - are the provisional conclusion of the participatory CDP in the state and offer a forum for discussing the results to date. The Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Culture invites all those interested in cultural development planning to take part in the regional forum.

The focus is on five key topics for the state's cultural policy, with which the CEP is entering the final phase and preparing the final report:

  • Developing state cultural promotion in line with the times
  • Strengthening and profiling regional cultural landscapes
  • Rethinking the social anchoring of culture
  • Promoting networking between cultural and political players
  • Improve conditions for art and cultural production.

The key topics were developed on the basis of a total of thirteen fields of action, which were developed in working groups, thematic forums, desktop research, interviews and other suggestions from the CEP consultations. Each field of action is underpinned by individual measures, which are also presented at the regional conferences.

The core of the regional forums will be a so-called World Café, which will encourage participants to think through the key cultural policy topics. The participants will each discuss one of the key topics in two self-chosen discussion rounds. Targeted key questions will be provided at the topic tables to structure the discussion and a moderator will tie together the contributions from the first and second discussion rounds. The World Café will be preceded by presentations on the progress of the CEP to date, a brief introduction to the key topics and the results of the youth survey. Numerous concrete measures will also be put up for discussion as a central component of the CEP final report.

  • For better planning of the event, registration is required at the link https://keprlp.kupoge.de/termine/regionalforum-ii/. The venue will be open half an hour before the event, and the time from 4 p.m. offers the opportunity to network.
