A rock festival for the little ones

On Thursday, July 13, 2023, the ultimate children's culture party of the year will take place at Messe Idar-Oberstein. On the day before the music show with Thomas D & The KBCS, Thomas Blug's Rockanarchie and Elite Experience, two fantastic bands, Raketen Erna from Berlin and Pelemele from Cologne, will rock the exhibition hall. It all kicks off at 4 p.m.: music to your ears, fidget and really party - and there are a few extra surprises in store for the young audience.

The Idar-Oberstein Youth Welfare Office has been organizing the popular Children's Culture Days festival for many years. After the series of events had to take a break due to corona, it is returning this year in a slightly different format: as a rock festival, just for the little ones. The morning concerts are already fully booked except for a few remaining places. Tickets for the afternoon concerts are available at the usual advance booking offices at a price of 4 euros. This year's event is once again supported by the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Education, Science, Further Education and Culture.

Görenblues from Berlin

If Rio Reiser had made a children's record, it certainly wouldn't have sounded much different from the music of Raketen Erna. The Berlin three-piece combo makes music for strawberry princesses, little monsieurs and superheroes and, following their successful debut album "Bouletten Beats", the fantastic "Mir doch egal, ich lass das jetzt so", which was longlisted for the 2020 German Record Critics' Award in the children's and youth recordings category, and "Der Erna ihr dritter Streich", they are now back with their new longplayer "CRASH! BOOM! BANG!" back.

Once again, the children's rock trio brings color and all kinds of genres into children's rooms and parents' car radios. The topics range from insomnia and bacteria alarms to songs of encouragement and equality. Even a song about death is included this time. In terms of sound, Raketen Erna have never been so to the point. A genre balancing act that covers everything from 50s beat music and 70s folk to 90s rock and acoustic songs. Like hardly any other band in the children's song sector, the cheeky Erna from Berlin shines with polyphonic vocals that delight children and adults alike. That's a promise!

100 percent music - 200 percent freak out!

Pelemele have no idea about math. Instead, the band has a sound and plenty of catchy tunes that feel right at home in children's bedrooms. It's their wild, pelemely mix of rock, disco, hip-hop, pop and ska that regularly gets young and old alike going wild. With their brilliant live shows and award-winning studio albums, Pelemele have been delighting kids of all ages for years, along with their compulsive adult listeners.

The photo shows the four musicians of the band Pelemele in front of a colorful background.

In 2021, the four guys from Cologne celebrated the 20th anniversary of Pelemele on stage and also presented their full, new album "Der Wëcker". "Der Wëcker" is loud, cheeky and fresh and has brought his friends with him: Robot Arnold 100 squeaks and dances, a flash pug skates like a pro and a desperado threatens with a tickle attack. Daredevil characters enter the stage and a Schnick-Schnack-Schnuck battle decides the outcome. All the songs are devised, composed and recorded by hand with a great deal of humor and empathy, so that the music triggers dancing legs and laughing muscles without any detours.
