The registration portal for the Idar-Oberstein Rock Church Stair Run 2023 has only been open for a few days and 13 participants have already registered. "We've never been this early before," explains Rainer Hagner, who organizes the stair run together with his marathon team for the city of Idar-Oberstein. He is particularly pleased that this year the event's namesake is once again shining in all her glory above the Oberstein market square. This is where the start and finish of the running event, now in its eighth edition, will take place on Sunday, September 17, 2023. The short run starts at 11 a.m. and the main run at 12 noon.
Perhaps the good response is also due to the publicity given to the event by prominent athletes. Zacharias Wedel recently described the stair run on his Instagram channel as one of the most spectacular running events in Germany. The regular participant, who came second in the long-distance race last year, offers coaching for ambitious runners and Hyrox athletes at his training lab in Fürth. He will certainly be at the start again this year and will climb the 438 meters of altitude with around 480 steps in the main race.
Registrations for the Felsenkirche stair run are possible until Sunday, September 10, 2023, at https://my.raceresult.com/230488, the entry fee is 10 euros per run. Late registrations are not possible. Further information can be found at www.marathonteam-hagner.de.
