Frank P. Meyer reads in the city library

On Thursday, March 23, 2023, at 7.30 pm, Frank P. Meyer will read from his book "Vom Ende der Bundeskegelbahn" at the Idar-Oberstein City Library. The work, published by Conte Verlag in 2022, is a furious globalization novel about a close-knit village community whose life plans are thrown into disarray by the confrontation with foreigners.

Wang Fei has big plans for the Hunsrück. With an unerring instinct for the needs of his compatriots in faraway China, he sets out to turn "Wang's World Trade" into a flourishing business. What begins with the purchase of an empty factory building and two used delivery vans culminates in the daring plan to move an entire vineyard from the Ruwer Valley to the Chinese province of Shandong. The young entrepreneur recruits his employees from the village's outsiders. But the provincials Helmut, Jasmin, Johann and Zoppo don't always work out as typically German as Wang had hoped.

Frank P. Meyer, born in 1962, studied English, German and Dutch philology in Trier and Oxford before working as a research assistant at the University of Hildesheim. Today he is head of the student advisory service at the University of Trier. In 2012, Meyer was elected Trier City Writer, and in 2014 he received the Saar-Hunsrück Literature Prize. He has published three novels to date. He has also published a collection of columns and two volumes of short stories. Back in 2019, Frank P. Meyer presented his book "Der Club der Romantiker" at the city library, including a sherry tasting. Once again, Meyer will be bringing along some paraphernalia to go with the book and there will even be something to win.

Tickets are available in advance for 5 euros at the Idar-Oberstein City Library, Hauptstraße 373a, and at the box office.
