Following last year's successful premiere, the city of Idar-Oberstein is once again organizing a volunteer festival. With this event, the city council and administration would like to thank those who volunteer in and for Idar-Oberstein. The event will take place on Saturday, April 22, 2023, from 5 p.m. at the Idar-Oberstein Exhibition Center. Participation is free of charge, but the number of participants is limited to 500 people. Registration is therefore required.
Volunteering plays a major role in Rhineland-Palatinate. With a proportion of almost 50 percent of volunteers, our federal state has the highest volunteering rate in the country. "In Idar-Oberstein, too, many people are active in associations, organizations and initiatives, and as Lord Mayor, I am proud and grateful that they are so committed to their fellow citizens and take on social responsibility," emphasizes Frank Frühauf. This is why the city has massively expanded its support for volunteers in the past year, and the volunteer festival is part of this.
After welcoming around 200 guests at the premiere, the mayor is hoping for even more participants this year. "The feedback from the first Volunteer Festival was consistently very positive and I assume that even more committed people will make use of our offer this year." The event will include a presentation by representatives of the State Chancellery of Rhineland-Palatinate on the topic of "Inspiring people to volunteer", awards for successful athletes and a small entertainment program. After the 'official' part, the city invites guests to a hot and cold buffet and there is of course plenty of opportunity for good conversation and a lively exchange.
Interested parties can register by sending an email to ehrenamt@idar-oberstein.de. Please include your name and contact details as well as the organization you work for. Organizations can of course also send a collective registration for their active participants. Participation is based on the order of registration.
