This year, the competition is all about the sunflower. It will be another exciting time until the summer, when the sunflowers in the participating facilities will be measured and the daycare center with the largest flower will receive a small prize.
Thirteen daycare centers from Idar-Oberstein took part in this year's competition and collected their sunflower seeds from the Enzweiler daycare center. To kick off the project, everyone was also given a lovely sunflower story. "We are delighted that so many daycare centers are taking part again," explained Sabrina Becker, head of the Enzweiler daycare center.
The children at her facility were already very excited and the sunflower seeds were immediately planted in small pots with soil. Initially, these were still inside the daycare center until the temperatures outside were warm enough for the children to move the mini plants to the garden bed. Now the nursery children are busy watering, pulling up weeds and marveling at the small changes in the sunflowers every day. Of course, there is also a mail exchange between the daycare centers. Games, songs, stories and care tips can be exchanged here.
