The expansion work on Mainzer Straße in the Oberstein district is almost complete. On Wednesday, June 7, 2023, the currently still existing full closure in the area between the connecting branch to the B 41 and the street Auf der Idar will be lifted. The station can then be reached again directly via Mainzer Straße.
At the same time, however, the street Auf der Idar between the junction with Mainzer Straße and the entrance to the parking lot at Helmut-Kohl-Europaplatz will be fully closed from this point onwards. In this area, the municipal utilities are renewing the sewer over a length of around 160 meters. At the same time, the water and gas pipes are also being renewed by the utility companies. Traffic will be diverted via the B 41, B 422 and Emil-Kirschmann-Brücke or Bahnhofstraße, Otto-Decker-Straße and B 41. The construction work is expected to last until mid-September.
The city administration continues to ask residents and road users for their understanding for the disruption caused by the work.
