Blue Note is primarily dedicated to promoting the jazz and blues scene in Idar-Oberstein and the surrounding area as well as organizing and staging live concerts at special venues. In 2019, the association was awarded the Idar-Oberstein Culture Prize for its work. "With 'Club Time', we have created a new format this year in collaboration with Messe Idar-Oberstein," reported Dieter Hochreuther. The first concert in the new series, which took place in April, has already been well received. Another Club Time is planned for December.
As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, a number of companies active in the event industry have had to cease operations. As a result, the cost of event technology has risen sharply, even doubling. "For this reason, we can no longer hold as many concerts as in the past," explained Michael Weber.
"Nevertheless, the program is impressive and I am very pleased that Blue Note is once again enriching the calendar of events with great concerts this year," explained Lord Mayor Frühauf. Two events are also planned again in collaboration with the city of Idar-Oberstein: the concert with Thomas D & The KBCS at the trade fair and the jazz matinee at the castle as part of the theater summer.
