The photo shows a view of the meeting room. The rows of chairs for the council members are arranged in a semi-circle in ascending order. On the wall behind them is an installation showing the outline of the town of Idar-Oberstein with the coats of arms of the individual districts.

Soldiers collected for the Volksbund

Mayor Frank Frühauf and the deputy head of the artillery school, Lieutenant Colonel Andreas Orth, thanked this year's collectors for their commitment with a joint breakfast in the canteen of the artillery comradeship. This raised a total of 14,288.22 euros, which will be donated to the Volksbund.

The German War Graves Commission has been in existence for over 100 years. It preserves the graves of more than 2.8 million war dead as a reminder, works with young people at war cemeteries and builds bridges between former enemies. Even 78 years after the end of the Second World War, the Volksbund's mission - to create a dignified resting place for every fallen soldier - has not been fulfilled. The donations are a contribution to the continuation and safeguarding of this work.
