Lord Mayor Frank Frühauf recently attended one of the consultation sessions held by the digital ambassadors of the Herrstein-Rhaunen municipality in the seminar room of the Idar-Oberstein municipal library. In this context, the two digital ambassadors Michael Lange and Meinolf Krekeler informed the Lord Mayor about their experiences, goals and challenges during the consultation appointments - explicitly also about the topic of data protection.
The digital ambassadors support senior citizens in accessing the digital world and exploring the possibilities of smartphones and tablets. To this end, they regularly organize consultation appointments at the Idar-Oberstein City Library. The service is free of charge and it is not necessary to make an appointment. Interested parties can bring their own devices, but the library's public PCs can also be used.
"The work of the digital ambassadors is invaluable for our city. Over the years, digitalization has developed into a highly complex factor that determines our everyday lives. It is therefore essential to offer citizens such an advisory service," said Mayor Frühauf, praising the work of the digital ambassadors. It is therefore very pleasing that the advisory service is so popular. Regardless of whether the participants are taking their first steps in the digital world or would like advice on solving individual problems: The digital ambassadors are happy to provide support. In conclusion, the Lord Mayor thanked the digital ambassadors for the extensive and valuable insights into their work. Looking ahead to 2024, he promised them the city's continued support.
- The next digital ambassador consultation will take place on Friday, December 29, 2023, from 4.30 to 6.30 p.m. in the seminar room of the Idar-Oberstein City Library, Hauptstraße 373a.
