Integreat is a local and multilingual integration platform for immigrants that is very easy to use for everyone involved. With the mobile app and the website, all content can be accessed on the move - even without an internet connection - and from a PC. The central aim of the app is to provide people migrating to our region with better, simpler and faster information about local offers and opportunities than before. The content of the app is currently available to users in German, English, French, Ukrainian and Arabic. If it turns out in day-to-day use of the app that other languages are urgently needed, these can be added at any time.
The suggestion to implement the Integreat app came last year from the advisory councils for migration and integration in the Birkenfeld district and the city of Idar-Oberstein. Responsibility for the project lies with the Birkenfeld district, in the area of integration, and the city of Idar-Oberstein supports the project both financially and by providing the content.
District Administrator Miroslaw Kowalski is enthusiastic about the possibilities and ease of use offered by the app. More than 100 districts and municipalities in Germany are now using the Integreat app very successfully. Last year, a workshop was held with representatives from the city and district administrations, the two advisory boards for migration and integration as well as representatives from the areas of social work, business and voluntary work to define the content and determine which languages the app would start with.
Mayor Friedrich Marx emphasizes how important it is to offer a digital solution, especially for this important information, and acknowledges the good cooperation between the employees of the district administration and the city administration.
The app can be easily downloaded to a cell phone or tablet using a QR code, but is also available at www.integreat-app.de. Flyers with information and the QR code will also be distributed to the registration authorities and other institutions over the next few days.
