Last Tuesday and Wednesday, the reading room at the new location was open to the public for the first time. After the archive had been closed for a few weeks due to the move, some regular users took the opportunity to take a look at the new workspace.
The city archive is housed in the basement of the former C&A department store. There is now sufficient space for the secure and archive-friendly storage of the entire collection. The modern and bright reading room with several workstations and WLAN access now offers users excellent working conditions.
On Thursday, September 21, 2023, from 5 to 7 p.m., there will also be an official opening of the new city archive. All interested parties are cordially invited to celebrate the successful move from Bahnhofstraße to the Nahe-Center and find out more about the facility. After a welcoming address by Lord Mayor Frank Frühauf, Archive Director Dr. Svenja Müller will give a brief insight into the tasks and work of the city archive and also discuss the advantages of the new premises. This will be followed by a tour of the reading room and the two storage rooms.
- For better planning of the event, please register by Friday, September 15, 2023, at pressestelle@idar-oberstein.de. The entrance to the city archive is located on the forecourt level on the left-hand side of the Nahe-Center 13-14 building.
