Once again this year, the Day of Urban Development will be celebrated throughout Germany on Saturday, May 13, 2023: In keeping with the nationwide motto "Wir im Quartier" (We in the neighborhood), urban development funding is intended, among other things, to help people feel comfortable in their surroundings, strengthen ties with one another and promote coexistence in a stable neighborhood. In the "Soziale Stadt - Stadtquartier Wasenstraße", the stakeholders are once again planning a colorful family program for the residents of the neighborhood and all interested parties from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the schoolyard of the Flurschule (Schulstraße 7). The Wasenstraße neighborhood invites all residents and families from the Wasenstraße neighborhood and the surrounding areas to celebrate together. In addition to numerous information stands on a wide range of topics, there will be a number of attractions for the whole family. The topic of waste separation will also be addressed this year and the waste management company will be providing materials for this purpose. In addition, the municipal building authority will be discussing the further development of the development concept and its measures with the residents and stakeholders of the urban quarter. Of course, small treats in the form of ice cream and waffles will also be provided.
Last year, around 200 visitors celebrated together in the Wasenstraße neighborhood and created a lively atmosphere. This year, the Wasenfest was initiated and planned by Offener Kanal Idar-Oberstein/Herrstein e.V. together with the Wasenstraße neighborhood management. The festival is financed by the Socially Integrative City disposal fund. Neighborhood manager Samira Brächer and all those involved are looking forward to a colorful and lively festival and are of course hoping for large numbers of visitors.
Visitors can look forward to a food stall from those involved in the Begegnungscafé, the ice cream bike with delicious ice cream as well as Clown Kuni with her colorful program and face painting for children from the St. Walburga daycare center. The Neighborhood Management, the Youth Employment Agency and the Advisory Board for Migration and Integration, which will also be bringing small gifts for families, will be presenting themselves at information stands. A separate information stand is dedicated to the topic of "How do I separate waste properly?". In addition, the daycare center social work team will introduce itself, the Kreuznacher Diakonie will offer children a "healthy food" campaign, and children and young people can paint, do handicrafts or even make jewelry out of foil at the youth art school.
