Children's aid fund

Children's aid fund

  • What is the Children's Relief Fund?

The Children's Aid Fund, whose donations are administered by the Idar-Oberstein Youth Welfare Office, has been in existence since December 2002. It was set up with a donation of 5,000 euros from the "Kind für Kinder" association in Kirschweiler.

Since its foundation, numerous private donations, as well as donations from associations and institutions, have made it possible to provide financial assistance for children and young people in many cases. The donations are requested by social workers, teachers or other caring professionals and benefit the children directly. All professionals in daycare centers, schools, institutions and other independent youth welfare organizations have the opportunity to apply for funding from the Children's Aid Fund.

  • What does the Children's Relief Fund do?

The Children's Aid Fund is intended to remedy financial emergencies, especially when state benefits are not available or are insufficient. This could include grants for the purchase of necessary clothing, missing home furnishings for children and young people or other items necessary for daily life. Grants can also be made for leisure activities, such as participation in school trips, vacation camps or other workshops, excursions and activities, if these specifically promote the personal development of the child. In addition, individual project ideas that are specifically geared towards the educational needs of the children and young people in care can also be supported.

  • How can I apply for funding from the fund?

In order to facilitate this assistance as quickly and unbureaucratically as possible, a brief description of the special situation and the resulting financial need, as well as a pedagogical assessment of the facts of the case, must be submitted in writing to the responsible staff at the youth welfare office. This should already include a possible contribution from the parents or other caregivers and a proposal for payment processing. It is important that the payment of the grant is usually made to the applying facility/institution, which ensures that it is used for the intended purpose and submits the necessary receipts. Other claims to benefits on a statutory basis must be excluded in advance (social benefit laws, other laws, education and participation package).

  • Contact persons

The Children's Aid Fund is not part of the municipal budget. Two specialists from the Youth Welfare Office, Ms. Claudia Hey (guardianship/guardianship) and Ms. Sabine Moser (youth care/youth work), decide on the use and forwarding of the donations.

If you become aware of any situations in your daily work in which support from the relief fund could contribute to the well-being of the child, please contact the two employees directly.
