Promotion of voluntary work
The voluntary commitment of citizens is of great importance for the social life of a community. The city of Idar-Oberstein has established various instruments to promote this within the scope of its financial possibilities.
Volunteer festival
Since 2022, the city of Idar-Oberstein has been organizing a volunteer festival at the Idar-Oberstein trade fair. Anyone who does voluntary work in or for the city of Idar-Oberstein can take part. The festival is a thank you from the city council and administration for this commitment. Invitations to take part in the event are sent out via the local media.
Grants for associations
Clubs based in the city area can receive grants from the city of Idar-Oberstein. On the one hand, general grants without earmarking, but also special grants for club-owned properties, the purchase of equipment or investment grants for construction measures.
The city can also support youth and youth social work measures and projects.
The Board of Trustees for the Promotion of Sports Talent in the Birkenfeld district is also committed to supporting young sports talent. You can find their homepage at www.kuratorium-sport.de.Sports clubs can also receive funding from the Ilse Scriba Goerg Foundation. Golden badge of honor
Persons who have rendered outstanding services to the common good of the city may be awarded the Golden Badge of Honor of the City of Idar-Oberstein by resolution of the City Council.
