Jazz on four stages, an exciting and varied program - that's the Jazz Days in Idar-Oberstein. They are rightly one of the highlights in Rhineland-Palatinate.
This year's focus is on southern European jazz formations:
"Antonio Lizana y Grupo" and his quintet are currently one of the most sought-after and successful "exports" on the Spanish jazz scene. The way in which he combines the sound tradition of his Andalusian homeland with the harmonies and solo art of modern improvisational music is second to none. The group "Mother" around the Greek-born bassist Athina Kontou fuses what seems incompatible: Greek music and jazz. With his trio, "Júlio Resende" plays a new genre, fado jazz.
Harold López-Nussa feat. Grégoire Maret" presents a firework display of modern Afro-Cuban jazz. You can also hear the "Mama Shakers" from Paris, who bring a new, fresh sound to old jazz and blues.
The German jazz scene is also represented with, among others: "Jazzrausch Bigband", one of the most successful big bands in the world with its anniversary program "Bangers only", "Conic Rose" with urban jazz that captivates the audience from the very first moment with its joy of experimentation, graceful soundscapes and melodies, the modern jazz-rock formation "Jin Jim", "Armstrong's Ambassadors", "The Bluesanovas" and other great formations. The crowning finale is "Meret Becker en Concert - Meret & The Tiny Teeth - with Le Grand Ordinaire".
