Neues Globe Theater - play with music based on the novel by Klaus Mann
Play introduction 7.30 pm
The focus is on actor Hendrik Höfgen, who has become a celebrated star of the so-called Third Reich and is appointed director of the Berlin State Theater. An actor torn between his career and his conscience. Culminating in the famous sentence: "I'm just an ordinary actor!".
Mephisto, written by Klaus Mann in exile in 1936, is regarded as a key novel about the actor Gustaf Gründgens, who was married to Erika Mann for three years. The New Globe Theater stages a revue of the story with live music and an emcee, inspired by the political cabaret of the 1920s and 1930s. Playful actors and actresses and great music make for entertaining entertainment.
The New Globe Theater was awarded the INTHEGA Prize "Die Neuberin" for this play.
